Why it matters

Why channel optimization moves hotel revenue

Placement, rate structure and channel mix decide what each OTA booking is worth to you.

Placement

Rank higher on every channel

Each OTA sorts hotels on its own mix of content score, rate competitiveness, promotions and guest score. A profile that scores well on all of them ranks higher and pays the same commission as one that does not.

Rate structure

Promotions that earn placement, not discounts that erode rate

Member deals, mobile rates, early-booker and last-minute promotions lift placement when they are structured around your base rate. We build the plan architecture per channel so visibility rises without your average rate falling.

Channel mix

Less dependence on any single OTA

Booking.com and Expedia bring most bookings; Agoda, Trip.com, metasearch and the regional channels bring the guests they do not reach. Optimized properly and mapped through your channel manager, the mix protects your revenue and your margin.

How it works

One method, applied per channel

The same four steps on every extranet, with content, rates and promotions built for each one.

  1. 01

    Choose your channels

Pick one channel or all of them. Send us your extranet listings and your source markets, and we tell you where the biggest gap is.

    Same day

  2. 02

    Audit every channel

A scorecard per channel: content score, rate plan structure, promotions, photos, guest score and parity, with the fixes ranked by impact.

  3. 03

    Optimize per channel

Content, photos, rate plans, promotions and programme eligibility, implemented live in each extranet with you on screen.

    Live implementation

  4. 04

    Track the lift

A summary per channel, a parity check across all of them and a 30-day review of placement, conversion and booking share.

    30-day check-in

Hotel distribution

OTA optimization is distribution work, not marketing copy

For a hotel, an OTA listing is a rate plan architecture, a promotion calendar, a content score, a photo gallery and a guest score, all living in an extranet that the sales team opened once and rarely revisits. Each channel scores those elements differently, and each one places the properties that score well above the ones that do not, at the same commission.

The usual state is a profile that was complete three years ago, one refundable rate plan, a promotion someone set and forgot, and a gallery in upload order. It costs placement on every channel and pushes hotels toward paid visibility, Accelerator bids and TravelAds, to make up the difference.

We treat each channel as a distribution problem: complete the content, structure the rates, calendar the promotions, qualify for the programmes that reward placement, and keep everything in parity through your channel manager. Then we measure the lift in each extranet and show you which channels earned their place.

FAQ

Hotel OTA optimization questions

Everything you need to know before choosing a channel.

Which channel should a hotel optimize first?

The one that brings most of your OTA bookings today, which for most hotels is Booking.com, followed by Expedia. Then the channel that matches your largest untapped source market: Agoda and Trip.com for Asian demand, Google and metasearch for direct bookings.

Can you optimize all my channels in one engagement?

Yes. A multi-channel engagement covers Booking.com, Expedia Group, Agoda, Trip.com, metasearch and the regional OTAs together, with channel-specific content and promotions for each and a parity check across all of them.

Do you need access to my extranets?

Only for live implementation, and only temporarily: a user on each extranet or on your channel manager, which you remove afterwards. For content-only work we deliver ready-to-paste content and a settings checklist per channel.

How does this fit with revenue management?

OTA optimization drives visibility and conversion on each channel; revenue management decides the rates and restrictions behind them. They work best together, and many hotels pair the channel work with outsourced revenue management or hotel pricing with PriceLabs.

How long does it take?

Booking.com is done live in a Zoom session. The other channels take two to three business days each for a single property, and multi-property groups are delivered in batches.

How do you measure results?

A before-and-after summary per channel, followed by a 30-day check of placement, page views, conversion and review score in each extranet's analytics, and of direct bookings for metasearch.
