The Costa de la Luz has two seasons that barely overlap. In February the Carnival of Cadiz turns the old city into one of Spain's great street parties, with chirigotas and costumes packing La Vina and the lanes around the central market. From June to September, families and watersports travellers head for the Atlantic beaches at Conil, Zahara de los Atunes, Bolonia and Tarifa, where the Levante and Poniente winds make Tarifa a kitesurfing capital. Spring brings Semana Santa and the almadraba bluefin tuna season in Barbate and Zahara. We price carnival as a city peak, summer as a weekly beach market and Tarifa around the wind.

Quiet outside Christmas. Focus on Cadiz city weekends and longer stays, and set realistic floors in the beach towns, where many restaurants close.
The Carnival of Cadiz fills the old city, above all on its two weekends. Use minimum stays and premiums in La Vina and the centre.
Semana Santa, the spring almadraba in Barbate and Zahara, and kitesurf season building in Tarifa. Weekends climb steadily toward summer.
Atlantic beach season with Spanish families and European kitesurfers. Weekly stays dominate the coast, so price leftover short gaps to fill.
Warm sea, thinner crowds and reliable wind. Keep early September close to summer rates, then ease toward winter levels.
Holiday rentals in Andalusia must be registered in the Registro de Turismo de Andalucia, with the number shown on listings, and Spain also requires a national registration number for platform listings. A 2024 Andalusian decree lets municipalities limit new tourist flats, and Cadiz city has used it in central areas. Check local planning rules before investing.

Carnival rewards early pricing with two or three-night minimums on the main weekends, particularly in La Vina. Summer on the coast rewards weekly stays with fixed changeovers for families in Conil and Zahara. Tarifa behaves differently: kitesurfers often book close in and follow wind forecasts, so we use shorter minimum stays and active last-minute pricing there in spring and autumn, while keeping August firm.
Hotels on this coast split between city properties in Cadiz, beach resorts in Conil and Zahara, and surf-oriented boutiques in Tarifa. We protect carnival dates in Cadiz, manage tour operator allotments in the summer resorts, and price Tarifa around the wind seasons and the calendars of the kite schools. Each sub-market needs its own comp set because their peaks fall at different times.

Carnival is one of the biggest events of the year in Cadiz, especially across its two main weekends. We set premiums and two or three-night minimums for old-town apartments, particularly in La Vina, and open those dates early, because many visitors book months in advance.
Yes. Kitesurfers often book shorter, flexible stays and react to wind forecasts, while families heading for Conil and Zahara book a week or more well in advance. We price Tarifa with shorter minimum stays and close-in adjustments, and price family beach homes by the week.
Yes. Holiday rentals must be registered in the Andalusian tourism register and show the number on listings, and a national registration number is now required for platform listings. Cadiz city has restricted new tourist flats in central areas, so check local rules before buying or listing.
