Google Vacation Rentals and TripAdvisor are search and metasearch channels: they show your property, rates and availability to travelers who have not decided where to book. Optimizing them means accurate listing content and photos, rate parity and availability across channels, and a direct booking link that is competitive with the OTAs.
Lake Balaton sells mostly through Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo and Expedia. Balaton holiday homes earn most of their year in eight or nine weeks, so the summer calendar must be priced with care. We set weekly stays with fixed changeover days in July and August, add surcharges on festival weeks near Zamardi and the Anna Ball weekend in Balatonfured, and keep June and September open to shorter stays. Domestic guests often pay with SZEP cards and book directly, so a clear direct-booking rate helps.
Booking.com dominates for Hungarian, Austrian, German and Czech travellers, and Szallas.hu is a major domestic channel. Airbnb and Vrbo work for holiday homes and villas, while Expedia helps hotels reach wider European markets. We keep parity, list SZEP card acceptance where relevant and promote shoulder weeks.
The full service is described on our other ota optimization page; this page covers how it applies in Lake Balaton.
