Google Vacation Rentals and TripAdvisor are search and metasearch channels: they show your property, rates and availability to travelers who have not decided where to book. Optimizing them means accurate listing content and photos, rate parity and availability across channels, and a direct booking link that is competitive with the OTAs.
Malé sells mostly through Airbnb, Booking.com, Agoda and Expedia. Short-stay listings in the Maldives are almost always registered guesthouses, so Airbnb works best as a second channel next to Booking.com. We set the nightly rate with transfers in mind: if the public ferry does not suit arrival times, the speedboat cost goes into the price or a clearly priced add-on. Length-of-stay discounts matter because most guests stay five nights or more, and a night on Hulhumalé before an early international departure is a reliable add-on worth pricing separately.
Booking.com leads for guesthouses and mid-range island hotels, Agoda reaches Chinese and wider Asian travellers, and Expedia matters for North American and long-haul honeymoon bookings. Airbnb is useful for guesthouses with private rooms and villas. Resorts also sell heavily through tour operators and specialist travel agents, so we check that net rates given to wholesalers never undercut public OTA prices.
The full service is described on our other ota optimization page; this page covers how it applies in Malé.
