Google Vacation Rentals and TripAdvisor are search and metasearch channels: they show your property, rates and availability to travelers who have not decided where to book. Optimizing them means accurate listing content and photos, rate parity and availability across channels, and a direct booking link that is competitive with the OTAs.
Mackinac Island sells mostly through Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com and Expedia. Short-term rental pricing around the Straits has to account for the ferry. Guests cannot simply drive to an island cottage, so arrival and departure days follow boat schedules and luggage logistics, which favours two and three night stays. We build a season-long rate card from May to October with steep weekend premiums in July and August, protect Lilac Festival and Bridge Walk dates with minimum stays, and treat the closed months as a budget plan rather than a pricing problem.
Booking.com and Expedia drive much of the motel and inn demand in Mackinaw City and St. Ignace, where travellers book while planning a Michigan road trip. Airbnb and Vrbo matter more for cottages and island homes rented by families. We keep ferry and bridge distances accurate in every listing and make sure seasonal closing dates are blocked consistently across channels.
The full service is described on our other ota optimization page; this page covers how it applies in Mackinac Island.
